(from NPR) Teachers often struggle with student loans, but they handle the stress in different ways. "I don't ever look at myself as a teacher making enough money to get ahead of the loans that I had to have for the degree that was required for my job," said a St. Louis-based teacher. Others see the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program, which allows teachers to pay down loans in low, monthly income-based payments and forgives loans within 10 years, as helpful. Another teacher: "Before I even knew about my options for repayments, I had a very pessimistic view about how things would turn out for me. I thought that I'd always be a renter." Last year the teacher got married and bought a home.
