(From McKinsey Digital) An ability to manage data as an asset across an entire organization is key to a successful business venture, according to Anil Chakravarthy, the CEO of Informatica, one of the world’s largest providers of cloud-based services for managing data. "The most value comes from being able to collect and correlate information from different kinds of systems," he said in a recent interview. He suggests organizations take a step back and understand how data needs to be gathered and managed, and design that into the system from top to bottom. A strong technical foundation in data management, mechanisms to govern the handling of data, and employee accountability for managing data well all support this effort.
