(from Guidestar) Data-sharing is increasingly important to nonprofit organizations such as independent schools for the simple reason that sharing quality data helps to tell the organization's story to a broader audience. This active exchange of information can provide compelling evidence of the difference an organization is making — the people impacted and the outcomes achieved — and the case for supporting it. Besides publicly available information such as Forms 990 and other IRS filings, nonprofit schools might share a wide variety of data through social media, website pages, reports and conferences or presentations. Critically, the data should have integrity, be current and above all fit the story you're trying to tell.
