(from Inside Higher Ed) After years of steady growth, international enrollment in U.S. colleges and universities showed a marked decline last year amid uncertainty about U.S. immigration policies and a less-welcoming political climate. A new report from the National Science Foundation points to a net decline of -2.2 percent among international undergraduate students from fall 2016 to 2017, and a drop of -5.5 percent at the graduate level. Among undergrads studying science and engineering, the sharpest declines came from Saudi Arabia (-18 percent) and South Korea (-7 percent).
