(From Inside Higher Ed) Young adults today need more time, education and work experience to secure what’s considered a “good job” than previous generations did, according to a pair of new reports from the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce. What does this mean for schools, colleges and employers? Researchers say K-12 schools can do more to counsel students on educational and career pathways, given observed racial and gender gaps in both education and labor markets. Currently each counselor is responsible for almost 70% more students than CEW’s recommended student-to-counselor ratio of 250 to one, according to the reports.
