Lower Enrollment, Less Aid, More Revenue

(from the Enrollment Management Association) It took some work for Williston Northampton's Financial Aid Director Chris Dietrich and CFO Chuck McCullough to convince the school's board and leadership that they should lower enrollment targets as well as financial aid to bring in more net tuition revenue. Key to the success was what they called "arrow charts" that compared the current year's enrollment and financial aid numbers for each grade with estimates for the next year. The data enabled school leaders to set a sound budgetary target for overall financial aid for the upcoming year. It also guided the work of the admissions office, setting enrollment and financial aid goals. In addition to securing the school's financial health, the new process has allowed the business and admissions offices to better understand each others' work.
