Tuition discounting plays a role in helping independent schools live their missions and serves as a tool to increase diversity, affordability and access to an independent school education. However, schools need to keep an eye on discounting’s impact on long-term financial sustainability. Learn about the research findings from the Tuition Discounting Report for PK–12 Independent Schools: 2021-2023, NBOA’s recently released multi-year data analysis of need-based financial aid, merit aid/scholarships and tuition remission. In addition, Megan Fangmeyer, manager of product at FACTS, will provide reflections on the current trends in tuition discounting. FACTS, a division of Nelnet, Inc., provided generous financial support for the publication of this research.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the recent trends in tuition discounting including need-based financial aid, merit aid/scholarships and tuition remission.
  • Learn how to use the research findings, and your school’s own tuition discounting data, to uncover insights about the school’s tuition discounting program and the school’s financial health.
