Top 10 Benefit Plan Errors and Prevention Strategies

David Lee has been with the firm since 2005 and is a Partner in our Assurance Practice. He is also a member of our nonprofit and employee benefit plan teams. He leads our independent school practice and manages audits of many of the firm's nonprofit engagements. David is a frequent speaker on topics related to employee benefit plans and independent school operations. In 2024, he spoke on 403(b) plan operations, best practices with capital campaigns and improving business office operations. He has been a featured speaker at various MISBO events throughout the years. David earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Georgia State University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is a member of Fernbank Museum of Natural History’s Corporate Leadership Council.

Claudia joined Smith + Howard in 2017 and is a Senior Manager in our Assurance practice. Prior to joining Smith + Howard, Claudia worked at a Big 4 firm in Washington, D.C., where she worked on audits of public and private companies in the technology and biotechnology industries. At Smith + Howard, Claudia has served our clients in a variety of industries, including nonprofit, manufacturing and distribution. Claudia specializes in Employee Benefit Plan audits. She is a member of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Claudia lives in Marietta with her husband and daughter.
