Designing an HR Dashboard: Strategically Leveraging Your Data

School leaders often rely on analytics to inform critical financial decisions and their strategic initiatives in admissions, fundraising, curriculum development and budgeting. Yet personnel and staffing decisions are rarely informed by data, even though salary and benefits account for up to 80% of a school's operating budget. NBOA has created a powerful tool to help you tell your school’s human resources story in a concise graphical dashboard. This workshop will help you decide which elements to include in your customized dashboard based upon your school’s strategic goals and particular circumstances. Join us to learn about tracking relevant HR metrics for your school and conveying your staffing story to leadership.

Please note: BEFORE the workshop begins, participants will need to download and set up NBOA’s HR Dashboard with your school’s data, which will take 15-30 minutes. The workshop is intended to provide more context for the tool and a better understanding of its uses.

Learning Objective(s):

  • Learn how to leverage personnel-related metrics.
  • Learn how to gather and organize metrics to analyze more accurate data.
  • Determine appropriate partners for data collection and identify the intended audience for the HR dashboard.
  • Identify school-specific metrics and begin to develop their HR dashboard.
