Laura Miyoshi

Laura Miyoshi

Chief Operating Officer (Retired)

Sandy Spring Friends School

Over the past decade, and prior to her retirement, Laura Miyoshi helped transform Sandy Spring Friends School’s 140-acre campus. She led several projects including the creation of a campus quad, the construction of an award-winning upper school building, a completely redesigned commercial kitchen, renovation of administrative offices, improved playing fields and playgrounds, and even 4 acres of solar panels discreetly sited on campus.  Miyoshi’s leadership style is not born from traditional business management books, but from a deep respect for her colleagues and for the wisdom that is generated through the process of debate, and challenging assumptions while being open to seeing things differently. This type of leadership helps her maintain great team relationships from project concept through completion.
