Joe Algrant is in his first year as head of school at Ethical Culture Fieldston School (ECFS), where he taught for 17 years earlier in his career. He previously served as upper school director at Hawken School in Gates Mills, Ohio, and most recently for 16 years at the Dwight-Englewood School in Englewood, New Jersey, where he was also the assistant head of school for program.  While at Dwight-Englewood, Algrant was involved in the design and construction of a new STEM center that houses the science and math departments; revised the Upper School curriculum to emphasize active citizenry and personalized study ; and created the department of human development, which focused on growth and preparation for adulthood.
